The Planet Venus in Ancient Egypt

The concept of the Morning star is also known in today's astrology, are you a Morning or Evening star?

I do suspect that this astrology concept descends from the ancient Egyptian ;)

What Does the Morning Star mean?

It has always meant; Venus visible before the sun rise = Morning Star...

Venus visible after sun down = Evening Star (In ancient Egypt it was Mercury that was seen as the Evening star).

I could give you a long and detailed description of the morning star, but I think I rather let the ancient Egyptians speak for themselves.

These next paragraphs will clearly prove to you that astronomy was embedded into their beliefs. I did not translate this, this is what the old scholars wrote, when going over the coffin texts. These text are found inside the coffin of the dead.

A Spell from the Coffin Text

The letter 'N' is used instead of the deceased name. Some of the words are either missing or lacks translation.

"To Become the Morning Star"

The paths of the Netherworld are opened for N, the gates of those who are in the horizon are opened for her, the beautiful star [....] which (?) his earth-gods who are in his darkness eat. He(?) makes bright [...], he has revealed those who were forgotten, for N is the Morning Star, N is the beautiful we3-star of gold which went up alone from the horizon; one multiple of uraei whom his mother bore, who consumed your Destroyers.

N is the Lone Star on the horizon, and her father Re has given her the whole of the sky when he brightens. He has given N his living beings for their protection; he has made spirits for N in order to have power over them; he has made gods for N in order to be in N's retinue; Anubis, Lord of burial, has brought <...>, having fallen on his face before N.

End of this spell.

Real Astronomical Facts

If we take a superficial look at our modern day pictures of Venus, it is a remarkable parallel from the ancient Egyptian text description.

This picture was taken by NASA and shows us Venus as it actually looks on Radar..

Pretty fitting to the ancient text description, right?

Off course this picture is not how it looks in a ordinary photograph, colors are added by artists. But the artist follows specific NASA guidelines for the different elements.

Such as when Radar is in use, it is the heat insensitivity of the object that is being painted. NOTE the patterns are all the planets, the artist ONLY paints in colors.
